James Bond Roulette Strategy - Is It Effective in the Casino?| Casino
The world’s favorite MI6 spy has been known by his code number 007 since the very first book he starred in: Casino Royale by Ian Fleming. It was in that 1953 book when the fabled James Bond Roulette Strategy was born. See this page to learn more about this classic gambling strategy.
Since its publication, gambling aficionados from London to Dubai have debated this particular approach to playing the beloved classic casino game roulette. If you can’t get enough of 007, check out this review for the new book The Many Lives of Bond.
Putting the James Bond Roulette Strategy to the Test
In the system Ian Fleming designed, Bond would place a similar bet every single round.
The proportions are based around the following formula:
- £14 on 19 – 36
- £5 on the Line bet 13-14-15-16-17-18
- £1 on 0
With this system in place, the gambler has the potential to win from 25 numbers, while only 12 will result in a loss.
The James Bond Roulette Strategy results in the following outcomes each time it is played:
- When the ball hits 19-36, you earn a total of £8
- When the ball lands on 13-18, you earn a total of £10
- When the ball hits the 0, you earn £16
- When the ball lands on 1-12, you miss out on £20
In the book, Bond describes employing his strategy using the same exact amounts of money in each round. A more progressive approach can be applied but unfortunately it is unlikely to be a victorious strategy in the long term.
James Bond Film’s Most Memorable Scenes in Casinos
Though the character of James Bond began his career in novels, he is perhaps most beloved for his portrayals on the silver screen. Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig are just a few of the more popular actors who have taken their turn playing Commander James Bond, CMG, RNVR.
Casino Royale, the film which introduced the world to Daniel Craig’s slightly darker and more mysterious take on Bond, is basically one extended montage of exotic casino interiors, exteriors, and of course, luxurious gaming suites. Taking place in Montenegro, Casino Royale brought the story of Ian Fleming’s first Bond adventure novel to life. Action focuses around Craig’s attempts to foil Mads Mikkleson’s excellently played Le Chiffre ultra-villain.
In Casino Royale, Bond’s epic gambling highlight comes in the form of a win at high stakes Texas HoldEm Poker. In the movie, a massive win goes the way of the British empire’s savviest secret agent. In the original book, Bond also has quite a fun time playing roulette. This game sadly though does not feature in the movie.
The Pierce Brosnan Bond reboot Goldeneye also features some unmissable casino action. Featuring Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco as the perfect backdrop for cloak and dagger espionage, Goldeneye sees Brosnan playing baccarat. Ever the showboat, the movie features Pierce Brosnan’s Bond besting Xenia Onatopp, a Russian agent in the ancient game.
In the first ever James Bond movie, Dr. No, Sean Connery’s Bond sets the standard for the character. In that movie, gaming action takes place at the fictional Le Cercle Casino in London. In the movie it's portrayed in a very opulent way.
